High School Curriculum
The 7th-10th Grades will meet weekly (see schedule below). The school year has two semesters and each semester has 5-6 Core Electives from which our 8th-10th Grade students can choose. Our High School will be operating on a rotating schedule. Three consecutive weeks will be formal, regular classroom experiences, followed by one week of informal educational/social experiences. The 11th-12th Grades will meet twice a month. Once a month, they will have a formal educational experience with the Rabbi from 7:00-8:00 pm, though they are welcomed to join the rest of the High School for our dessert social from 6:45-7:00 before their class begins. Jewish Cooking/Culture/Music (Ashkenazic and Sephardic Traditions) – This class will be designed for the students to learn about traditional recipes, their origins, the culture and arts of these different lands, and of course, learn to cook! The students will compile a Jewish cookbook over the duration of the course and bring in their family “famous” recipes.
11th and 12th Grade: Post-Confirmation Class with the Rabbi. Students will meet once a month with the Rabbi and discuss how they can make a difference in the world by doing G’milut Chasadim (acts of loving kindness). This class will culminate in a social action/Tikkun Olam project.
