Every year we celebrate Thanksgiving with our annual Thanksgiving Feast. Each class prepares all kinds of treats for our delicious Thanksgiving meal. The rabbi leads us in our prayer of thanks, and then we eat our egg salad turkey with all the yummy sides and desserts and enjoy each other’s company. Fun times are had by all.

Adat Reyim Preschool observes all the Jewish holidays as part of our Jewish enrichment. In addition to celebrating the holidays in the classrooms with crafts, baking, songs, and dance, when Chanukah and Purim come around, we open our doors to the community to celebrate with our traditional Chanukah Party and Purim Carnival.

At the Chanukah Party, we participate in fun family activities such as eating yummy latkes and jelly donuts, creating crafts, playing games, jumping in the moon bounce, and listening to a story of Chanukah read by Rabbi Aft.

At the Purim Carnival, we eat hamantaschen, make crafts, play games, win prizes, get dressed up in costumes representing one of our favorite Purim characters, and join in our Purim Parade. The Purim Carnival is also one of the preschool’s big fundraising events. As part of this year's celebration, we are holding a raffle. The more tickets you buy, the more chances you have to win!!! For a list of prizes, please click here.

For Passover, the preschool classes come together for a model seder. The children make all the foods for the delicious meal, and invite the preschool families to join us for our celebration. The rabbi begins the event with a story about “The Matzah Ball,” then we say our prayer and enjoy all the yummy items the children have made. For information about ordering personalized Haggadahs for this year, please click here.

We end every week celebrating Shabbat. The rabbi leads tells us a story about Shabbat or the Jewish holiday approaching, Miss Gail leads us in song, then we go back to our classrooms for a wonderful Shabbat celebration — lighting the candles, blessing the wine, eating the challah, and making our own challah to bring home to share with our families.

The holidays are very special at Adat Reyim Preschool. They are times for celebration, camaraderie, and so much fun!
