Adult Ed "Engaging in Effective Conversation
Friday, February 23, 2018 • 8 Adar 5778
8:00 PM - 9:30 PMCongregation Adat ReyimDr. Adina Friedman, George Mason University, School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and additional resource people will be joining us for discussion devoted to principles of dialogue and effective conversations. Dialogue, as opposed to debate or “telling”, is a two-way process that involves, among other things, listening and self-reflection. True dialogue is sometimes challenging, but it has the potential to teach us new - often critical - things about others and about ourselves. Learning how to engage in (and facilitate) dialogue, especially between people who strongly disagree on issues important to them, can help us better understand their (and our) needs, perceptions, and motivations. Thus, dialogue is a critical component of any attempt to bring about sustainable positive changes in our personal relationships with others, and in our broader communities/societies.
