Give 10 Volunteer Program
To Submit your Give 10 hours, please
To learn more about our Give 10 Program please read below.
Following the example of local community organizations and our own preschool and religious school protocols, on June 4, 2008, the congregation overwhelmingly approved the Give 10 Program to expand our support base in order to meet the needs of the congregation. Our goal is to provide the necessary support for all our programs and activities to be successful.
How does it work?
Each member unit will be billed a $100 “Give 10” fee to be paid with your first payment of membership dues. Upon completion of 10 hours of work for the congregation, you will be notified and given the following options:
- Receive a refund check of $100.
- Donate the $100 to the congregation.
Your 10 hours should be completed by June 30 of the following year to take advantage of these options.
What are the needs of the congregation and how do I participate?
There are many needs, both large and small, from heading and serving on committees to assisting with tasks in the office or smaller tasks from home. Descriptions of the committees and programs that need your support are displayed on the online form. You can indicate the areas in which you are interested, return the form, and you will then be contacted by a member of the Give 10 Committee or the program chair. This form is available in the lobby and online here. Additional opportunities will be posted in the weekly ChaiLights as needs arise. At any time you may contact Donna Schutz, a board member, or the program leader for more information. Simply make your choice and the rest will be taken care of by our Give 10 Committee.
Do both spouses have to “Give 10” hours?
No, the 10-hour minimum requirement is per family. Teenagers may participate where appropriate and their hours will count.
What about people on financial aid?
Individuals and families on financial aid have always been strongly encouraged to support the congregation through active participation. Those on financial aid have until June 30 of the following year to complete the 10-hour minimum requirement before the $100 fee becomes due.
How do I keep track of my hours?
To report your hours, please fill out our online form here. You will receive a confirmation. If you have any questions, email Donna at volunteer@adatreyim.org.
What if I can’t give all ten hours by June 30 of the following year?
If you cannot complete 10 hours of work by June 30 of the following year, the $100 fee will not be refundable and will go to benefit Adat Reyim.
What else can I do to complete the “Give 10” requirement?
Bring in a new member and your “Give 10” requirement for the year is complete! Bring in a new member before the High Holy Days and you receive a reserved parking space for the High Holy Days!!
I have a child enrolled in the preschool. Will I be billed for both programs?
No, you will only be billed by the preschool.
