Tonight, during fourth grade Religious School, the Zoom meeting link was hacked by intruders. The people who accessed the classroom were not Congregation Adat Reyim students and shared inappropriate images and language.
As soon as we became aware of the situation we immediately closed the meeting. We have talked about the incident with the students to ensure they continue to feel safe and that they know we are working to prevent this from ever happening again. Rabbi Glazer and I are available to speak with any student or family about what happened to help you process the situation.
I am so sorry that this happened. It is our goal at Congregation Adat Reyim Religious School for the students to always feel safe and we are working to re-evaluate our systems to ensure this does not reoccur.
We will evaluate the security of our Zoom sessions during the next few days to make sure by next Sunday and Monday we have the appropriate settings in place. We are also developing new protocols for letting students into the Zoom sessions to enhance our security measures. Please be sure that your student's name is on their profile when they are asking to be admitted into the Zoom room so we can be sure that we are ONLY admitting our students and not outsiders.
Lastly, please remind your students that if they ever encounter an uncomfortable situation in our Religious School classes or any other class they can always leave. The students emotional and physical safety is our number one priority.
