Ruach - Camp Style Music Program
***Music can inspire. Music can be fun. Music can be spiritual. Music can be calming. Music can teach. Music can offer hope. Music can bring a smile. Music can build community.***
This year, our Religious School will be focusing on building community, and one of the ways we aim to do that is through music! We will start each Sunday morning with a short, communal camp style celebration of life, of community, and of our Jewish heritage. Parents are invited to join us, too! The focus will be on building a repertoire of Jewish music, teaching Jewish values, having fun, and highlighting the Jewish calendar. As we sing, move, learn, and have fun together, we hope to inspire a love of Judaism and Jewish music while deepening our connection to Congregation Adat Reyim and to each other.
STEAM Program
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math in Religious School!
New Program starting fall 2019-2020. In our STEAM PROGRAM students will be learning about different Jewish artists scientists, mathematicians, and engineers and how they each have given us inspiring ideas to move forward as we think about the past, present and future. Each class will be given the same challenge and based on grade level, students understanding, ability, inspiration, and motivation their projects will each be different in an amazing way!
It is our goal to show our students that being Jewish isn't just about learning Hebrew, bible stories, prayers and studying for their B'nai Mitzvah. Our STEAM program will show the students how being Jewish can help them explore and think creatively, using recycled materials and real world applications in the world we live in today. We will be displaying all of the projects at our showcase at the end of the year celebration.

Community Shabbat
At Congregation Adat Reyim we would love for our religious school students and their families to attend Friday evening and Saturday morning Shabbat services every week, we also know that this is an unrealistic expectation. We live in a world where we are juggling family time, education, sports, work and religion. We try to be realistic with our expectations and work with each of our families to meet their needs while keeping religious education a priority. We provide Community Shabbat and hope that this is a time where you can combine the family time with the religion and attend Shabbat morning services with your children.
Community Shabbat is designed for children of all ages and all levels of experience. We meet in the sanctuary with our "Regulars". During Community Shabbat our students are often invited to participate on the bimah leading the prayers they are learning in their religious school classes. Our students who attend Shabbat morning services find it much easier to follow along in class and eventually have less difficulty preparing for their B'nai Mitzvah.
The students are encouraged to attend Shabbat morning services by tracking their attendance and they receive an incentive reward at the conclusion of each religious school year. The Community Shabbat dates will be listed in the religious school calendar so that the students can plan with their classmates ahead of time and they can all attend as a COMMUNITY!
