Education Director Search 2024

Who we are:

Congregation Adat Reyim in Springfield, VA is a welcoming, inclusive, growing congregation located 15-miles from Washington DC. Our name - which means a “Community of Friends” - values an inclusive approach to Judaism. We are an independent congregation of approximately 250 households that values the richness of Jewish tradition and respects the many ways our diverse community members connect to each other and the Divine.

Our Religious School embraces the concepts of “adat” and “b’yachad”. We are a community and we are in this together. On Sunday mornings, you will find families and students engaging in our lively Ruach musical and prayerful assemblies. Our enthusiasm for Jewish education has extended to virtual platforms, with many students learning Hebrew virtually mid-week.

Our goal is to hire a full-time experienced Education Director starting July 2024 who will:

  • Serve as chief administrator of the Religious School (pre-K through B’nai Mitzvah) and of the teen program (post B’nai Mitzvah through Confirmation and the Madrichim program).
  • Work as part of a collaborative leadership team including the Rabbi, Executive Director and our Board of Directors to work cooperatively and collaboratively to create congregational family programs, curricular activities, and budgets.
  • Promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education, Jewish or Religious Studies, or a related field.
  • Two years of leadership experience including previous experience leading a religious school, camp, and/or youth group. Graduate-level degree may substitute for direct leadership experience.

  • Ability to create vibrant and invigorating Jewish educational and family programming.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with children and adults.
  • Demonstration of respect for, acceptance of, and inclusion of families of diverse backgrounds and experiences – especially Jewish diversity.
