Heather lives in Woodbridge with her husband, three young sons – Caleb, Andrew, and Michael, two dogs, and one cat.  She has a Bachelor’s in special education, and in the past, she was a special education teacher but decided in 2022 to leave that profession in pursuit of something different.  She landed at Adat Reyim and is very happy.  In her free time, Heather enjoys reading, quilting, and hiking with her family.

Sara is a familiar face in Northern Virginia! She has lived in  Northern Virginia for 41 years, and currently lives in Springfield.  For 18 years, she was the  Jewish Coordinator at Fort Belvoir.  Additionally, for the 22 years she has worked as the Parent Liaison at Holmes Middle School. Sara is a long time  member of Olam Tikvah.

Therese Fournier

Therese is dedicated to making the synagogue’s Reggio-inspired pre-school a place where children are truly seen and celebrated. Therese has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, and has received comprehensive training in the Reggio Emilia approach. Therese has held numerous leadership positions in private industry, nonprofits and community volunteer efforts. She is a mother of three children – all in their 20’s - and resides in Annandale with her husband. She loves to travel, read, watch documentaries and listen to historical podcasts.

Melanie Berman

Melanie Berman, previously a respected teacher in our Religious School, holds a BA in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College and an MA in Education from American University. She has served as a teacher and leader at a variety of congregational schools and Jewish Day Schools throughout the United States. She served as Conference Chair of the Board of Directors of CAJE (Coalitions for Alternatives/Advancement of Jewish Education), and was the author of Jewish educational materials for Torah Aura Productions. She is eager to share her expertise and her love of Jewish learning with a new generation of students and their families.
