Interim Rabbi George Billinson

Rabbi George D. Billinson grew up in upstate New York, the oldest of 10 children.  He has been a resident of Northern Virginia for more than 40 years.  He has been a practicing attorney in private firms, in-house, and government service for nearly 45 years, but it was his life-long dream to become a rabbi.

After more than 25 years of serving the Northern Virginia Jewish community in various capacities, including as a lay cantor, Ritual Chair, adult education and religious-school teacher, and President of George Mason University Hillel, he decided to complete his formal education and was ordained as a rabbi in 2022.  Since that time, he has been serving as the Rabbi for the Fort Belvoir Jewish Congregation in Fairfax Virginia.

Rabbi Billinson received semicha (rabbinic ordination) from Mesifta Adath Wolkowisk Rabbinical Academy, his law degree from Syracuse University College of Law, and his undergraduate degree from Boston University.

Rabbi Billinson and his wife, Eileen, a lawyer and co-owner of a nationwide legal search boutique, live in Burke. They are the proud parents of four adult children, Jenn, Lizz, Caroline, and Josh.

Rabbi Billinson will serve as Interim Rabbi through June 2024.
