Speaker: Shy Askenazi, Senior Community Shaliach for the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia
Eretz Yisrael has always been a pillar of Jewish life, a Jewish center, and a place of aspiration. How was this connection formed and re-formed throughout time? How does this connection play a part in Diaspora Jewry lives, and where does tension come in? In this session we will explore these questions, and more, through a theory of five "landscapes" of Israel.
About the speaker: Shy Ashkenazi, born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel, is the Senior Community Shaliach for the Pozez JCC of Northern Virginia through The Jewish Agency for Israel. Shy is a singer-songwriter and an actor, and has combined his skills from the performing arts in his work with teens and adults in Israel engagement.
