It was wonderful to see everyone in costume this past Sunday and Wednesday evening for Purim! On Sunday morning our students were entertained by a special performance by our actors from the congregational Purim spiel. It was a Dr. Seuss themed spiel; laughs and boos (for Haman) were had by all! We also made matanot l'evyonim (a commandment to give to those who are in need for Purim). We were able to make homeless kits for over 60 homeless individuals in our community. Each student was sent home with a kit to keep in their car so you can give it out when you see someone in need as your are driving. We had an overwhelming amount of donations of toiletries and other products that we donated to ECHO and other homeless shelters in the area. To those of you who donated, THANK YOU for helping us complete this commandment this Purim season.
Lastly, we had our students make Mishloach Manot for their families by having a rainbow candy bar in each classroom. Many of our students are talking about their colors in Hebrew so the rainbow colors were a hit! We also talked about the word for rainbow in Hebrew, KESHET(קֶשֶׁת, KEH-shet). Everyone was sent home with Hamantashen to end our fun Purim celebration!
I hope you all had a joyous Purim celebration!
